LA Erupts in Celebration as Los Angeles Dodgers Claim Second World Series Championship
The City of Angels witnessed citywide celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a nail-biting seven-match World Series title. Fans across the globe joined Angelenos in celebration, marking the initial time in a quarter-century that a franchise has achieved back-to-back championships.
Celebration Parade Attracts Massive Turnout
Los Angeles area celebrations included a downtown parade on Monday morning, a ticketed rally at Dodger Stadium, and spontaneous parties throughout the city.
Social media videos show countless of Angelenos flooding city center avenues, many carrying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The squad was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the masses, raising the Commissioner’s trophy proudly.
“My focus is already about the next championship we’re going to do this,” Shohei Ohtani remarked through an translator.
The procession path concluded at the stadium, where the players emerged to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ spinning music and Ice Cube cruising a Pacific blue vintage Cadillac around the field.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Athlete Responses
Festivities began prior to the procession, with supporters lighting fireworks in the roads of Downtown Los Angeles on the previous evening.
The World Series MVP, named the MVP of the championship, spoke plainly about the win.
“Losing is not an option,” Yamamoto stated. “I adore this team. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and City Unity
However, Mark Walter was met with a cooler reception at the celebration. Video footage from the event appear to show Walter taking the stage to a mix of applause and jeers, with jeers interrupting his address.
The championship served as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An estimated quarter-million people attended to the championship parade last year, and according to team member Freddie Freeman, fans this year demonstrated equal or greater support.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” Freeman said. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
