Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the group enter locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.
